Amputee Rehabilitation

Amputee rehab is being reshaped by neural-interface prosthetics with multiple FDA approvals expanding. The session covers targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) for myoelectric control, osseointegration (OPRA system FDA approval), multi-DOF prosthetic control via pattern recognition (Coapt, Infinite Biomedical), advanced socket design (Hi-Fidelity Interface), 3D-printed prosthetics, and emerging neural interfaces with sensorised feedback. Discussion addresses upper-limb vs lower-limb prosthetics evidence, pediatric amputee considerations, post-amputation pain (residual limb, phantom), K-level activity classifications, advanced microprocessor knees, and gait training protocols.
