Stroke Rehabilitation

Stroke rehab spans acute to chronic care with major therapeutic advances. The session covers Vivistim VNS-paired training for chronic stroke (FDA approval, real-world implementation), robotic gait training (Lokomat, Andago, Wandercraft Atalante), constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) protocols, aphasia rehabilitation (MIT, CIAT, SCA), dysphagia therapy (FEES, MBSS), and brain-computer interfaces for chronic stroke. Discussion addresses upper-limb rehabilitation protocols, contralesional and ipsilateral pathway stimulation, the role of timing in recovery, telerehabilitation outcomes, cardiovascular conditioning post-stroke, and the integration with newer neuromodulation platforms.
