Sports & Exercise Medicine
Sports medicine intersects PMR, orthopedics and primary care with growing evidence base. The session covers concussion in athletes (Living Concussion Guidelines, blood biomarkers GFAP/UCH-L1), return-to-play algorithms, ACL rehabilitation and neurocognitive return-to-sport testing reducing re-injury rates, tendinopathy interventions (PRP, BMC, percutaneous tenotomy, eccentric loading), master athlete population, and pre-participation screening. Discussion addresses orthobiologics evidence post-AAOS guidelines, hamstring strain rehabilitation, ACL graft selection, post-meniscectomy considerations, exercise prescription in cardiometabolic disease, and the integration with PMR practice.
