Yoga & Mind-Body
Mind-body approaches complement rehabilitation with growing evidence in chronic pain and cancer survivorship. The session covers yoga for chronic pain (YogaCALM trial, MGH research), tai chi for falls prevention in older adults, Pilates for low back pain, mind-body integration in rehab, meditation evidence in TBI and stroke rehab, and cancer rehab applications. Discussion addresses Iyengar vs Vinyasa vs restorative yoga, adaptive-yoga for disability, qigong evidence, the comparison of mind-body modalities, meditation apps (Calm, Headspace) in rehab, and certification requirements for clinicians teaching mind-body.
