Orthotic Devices
Orthotic prescription and innovation supports function with growing 3D-printing and dynamic-design platforms. The session covers AFO selection in stroke (carbon fibre vs polypropylene, hinged vs solid), dynamic AFO designs, KAFO and HKAFO indications, custom 3D-printed orthoses, spinal orthoses (TLSO, LSO, Milwaukee, Boston), and the prescription-fabrication-delivery pathway. Discussion addresses CAD-CAM orthotic fabrication, the comparison of off-the-shelf vs custom orthoses, pediatric vs adult prescription, orthotic adherence and education, FES-AFO hybrid devices (L300, Walkaide), and emerging soft orthoses.
